The First Legislative Council in Jordan
The first Legislative Council in Jordan convened on April 2, 1929, following the country's first legislative elections.
Hassan Khalid Abu Al-Huda presided over this first Legislative Council, which included the following members:
1. Sheikh Abdullah Al-Kulaib Al-Yousef Al-Sharida "Al-Koura".
2. Lawyer Najib Abdul Qader Al-Yousef Al-Sharida "Al-Koura".
3. Sheikh Aqla Al-Mohammad Al-Naseer "Bani Obeid".
4. Lawyer Najib Abu Al-Sha’ar Al-Namri "Christian Seat" "Bani Obeid Area".
5. Mr. Saeed Al-Mufti Habjouqa Al-Qubartai "Circassians of Amman".
6. Mr. Shams Al-Din Sami "Circassians of Wadi Al-Seer".
7. Mr. Saeed Al-Salibi Al-Fawa’ir "Al-Salt".
8. Mr. Ala Al-Din Toukan "Al-Salt" (appointed as Director of Antiquities on 17/10/1929, resigned and was replaced by Mr. Nazmi Abdul Hadi on 14/11/1929).
9. Mr. Bakhit Al-Ibrahim Al-Eshaqat Al-Dabbaneh "Christian Seat" "Al-Salt".
10. Mohammed Al-Ansi "Amman".
11. Sheikh Atallah Al-Sahimat "Al-Karak".
12. Sheikh Rafeefan Al-Majali "Al-Karak".
13. Dr. Ouda Al-Qsous Al-Hilsa "Christian Seat" "Al-Karak".
14. Sheikh Saleh Al-Auran "Al-Tafilah".
15. Sheikh Hamad bin Jazi Al-Huwaitat "Southern Bedouins".
16. Sheikh Mithqal Al-Fayez "Central and Northern Bedouins".
The first Legislative Council was elected under the government of His Excellency Hassan Khalid Abu Al-Huda, whose members entered the Legislative Council as unelected members, including Hassan Khalid Abu Al-Huda, Reda Tawfiq, Hossam Al-Din Jarallah, Aref Al-Aref, Abdul Rahman Ghareeb, and Alan Kirkbride.
During the tenure of the first Legislative Council, a new government was formed under the leadership of Mr. Hassan Khalid Abu Al-Huda on 17/10/1929, with its members joining as members of the first Legislative Council: Hassan Khalid Abu Al-Huda, Ibrahim Hashem, Tawfiq Abu Al-Huda, Ala Al-Din Toukan, Ouda Al-Qsous, Saeed Al-Mufti.
The first Legislative Council continued until 9/2/1931 when it was dissolved due to its disagreement with the budget annex.
