The First Prime Minister of Jordan-Rashid Tali'a
Rashid Tali'a was the first Prime Minister of Jordan - State of Rashid Tali'a. Rashid Tali'a, full name Rashid bin Ali Hussein Nasif Tali'a, was born in Lebanon in 1877. He received his education at the Royal School in Istanbul in 1900 and then graduated from the Dar al-Funun in Istanbul, which was considered one of the most important universities in the Ottoman Empire. Most of the Ottoman state's officials graduated from there.
After graduating, Rashid Tali'a held several high-ranking government positions in the Ottoman Empire, including the positions of Governor of Hauran, Governor of Tripoli in Syria, and Governor of Latakia. He also formed the Society of the Free in Jerusalem and was later called to Damascus by Prince Faisal. Upon his arrival in Damascus, he was immediately appointed as the Military Governor of Hama. When King Faisal formed his first government, naming it the Council of Directors (akin to a council of ministers), Rashid Tali'a was appointed as the Director of the Interior (Minister of Interior). As the French colonizers started their conspiracies against the Faisal Kingdom to overthrow its Arab government, Rashid Tali'a was transferred to become the Governor of the Aleppo region and its city. He later became the President of the Arab Independence Party.
On April 11, 1921, he headed the first Jordanian government in the era of the Emirate of Transjordan, thus becoming the first Prime Minister of the first Jordanian government, which was then called the Council of Consultants. The royal decree appointed him as the Administrative Secretary, President of the Council of Consultants, and Deputy Consultant of the Interior. This government continued until June 23, 1921.
He was then tasked with forming the government again on July 5, 1921, which resigned on August 15, 1921.
When the Syrian Revolution broke out in 1925, he joined the Mujahideen and worked on organizing the revolution until his death in September 1926 in the village of Al-Shabakah in Jabal al-Druze.
