History of Ma'an During the Period (1921-1989): Social, Economic, and Administrative Conditions
The Royal Jordanian Documentation Center issued, as part of the university thesis series for the year 2022, a book titled "The History of Ma'an During the Period (1921_1989) Social, Economic, and Administrative Conditions," by Dr. Mohammad Abdel Hadi Al-Jazi.The study includes an introduction, four chapters, and a conclusion, where the researcher examines the social fabric, population groups, customs, and traditions of Ma'an, as well as the changes that occurred over time.
The study reveals the key economic activities prevalent in Ma'an during the period, illustrating their impact on the city's development and economic prosperity.
It also details the administrative conditions in Ma'an, monitoring the major stages of administrative formations in the city before and during the study period. It also explores the key government departments and institutions in the city during the study period and their development.
The research methodologically relies on analyzing documents related to the city's history, including decisions of the Ma'an Municipal Council, records of the Sharia Court of Ma'an No. (1), records of Sharia announcements of the city of Ma'an, in addition to British documents, published Hashemite documents, and the official gazette. The researcher also referred to historical sources, geographical books, traveler's accounts, and conducted personal interviews with specialists and contemporaries of the events.
The publications from the Hashemite Documentation Center are not translated into English. Institutions and publishing houses interested in publishing a translated version should contact the center at the following email address: Info@rhdc.jo. This offers an opportunity for broader access to these valuable historical resources for non-Arabic speaking audiences and researchers.
