Kifayah al-Talib in the Merits of Ali ibn Abi Talib

This book is a compilation by the author of various narrations regarding the virtues of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib - peace be upon him. These include hadiths and other reports that articulate the esteemed status of this noble companion. The book was written under the direction and guidance of the late King Abdullah I bin Al-Hussein bin Ali of Jordan, who was then the Prince of the Emirate of Transjordan before the establishment of the Kingdom.
The author divided the book into three sections as follows:
• Introduction: This section includes a statement that the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib - peace be upon him, was either the first or among the first to embrace Islam.
• The Purpose: This part deals with his noble lineage, mentions some hadiths about his virtues - peace be upon him, and some of his judgments demonstrating his wisdom and sharp intellect.
• Conclusion: This section explains that Allah specifically chose the progeny of the Prophet Muhammad - peace be upon him - to continue through the lineage of Imam Ali - peace be upon him. It details how Allah granted him martyrdom at the hands of the most wretched of men, the manner of his assassination - peace be upon him, and mentions his children and wills.
The book concludes with forty hadiths on the virtues of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib - peace be upon him.
